ORANGE COUNTY INTERSCHOLASTIC
ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
BOYS LACROSSE BY-LAWS
Adopted October 8, 2003


1. The current year National Federation Boy’s Lacrosse Rules and the NYSPHSAA Handbook will apply.

2. The following OCIAA rules and policies will apply.

a. The home school will wear white or light colored jersey, visiting team will wear dark.

b. Home school will provide a dressing room and facilities for the visiting team.

c. All schools must have adult operator of game time clock.

d. Home school will provide scorekeeper with lacrosse score book and penalty timekeeper.

e. Visiting school will provide scorekeeper with scorebook.

f. Names and numbers of players will be clearly written in each score book.

g. Home school will provide sideline benches, score table and seating for visiting statisticians.

h. Home school will provide adequate supply of game balls on each end line. If ball boys are used they must be equipped with helmet and gloves and may not wear matching uniform.

3. All Orange County coaches will rate both JV and varsity officials and send in the cards through their Athletic Director to the Athletic Coordinator within two weeks of contest.

4. Unsportsmanlike conduct:


a. When a coach is ejected from a game please refer to NYSPHSAA Handbook # 27 Sportsmanship.

b. When a player(s) is ejected from a game for fighting or unsportsmanlike conduct, the following action will be taken:

1. First ejection – that player(s) cannot attend or participate in the next scheduled game.

2. Second ejection – that player(s) cannot attend or participate in the next two scheduled games.

3. Third ejection – that player(s) cannot attend or participate in any remaining scheduled games including sectionals or any higher level of competition.

c. The official who ejected the player(s) will notify the OCIAA Athletic Coordinator, prior to
12:00 noon the following day, of the name(s) of the player(s) and the type of infraction(s).

d. The coach of the player(s) who was ejected will notify his/her Athletic Director. The Athletic Director will then contact the OCIAA Athletic Coordinator’s Office to confirm that the player or players will not be allowed to participate in that school’s next scheduled game or games as required above.

e. A player(s) who is ejected from a game, will not be allowed to be present at the site of any game that player(s) has been disqualified from participating in (home or away).

f. For an unsportsmanlike violation that occurs during the OCIAA season, penalties will carry over into sectional play. Once penalties are served, sectional unsportsmanlike conduct rules apply.

5. Championships

g. The OCIAA Boys Lacrosse League will consist of two divisions.

h. The League will recognize Division Champions based on win/lose record within division play.

i. If there is a tie based on records, the following will be used to determine the division champion(s):

1. Head-to-head between teams that are tied.

2. Goals allowed head-to-head between the tied teams.

3. If teams are tied co-champions will be declared.
