1. The current year NCAA Women’s Basketball Rules and NYSPHSAA adopted modifications will apply.
2. No Press Rule: Half or Full Court
One year experiment with the following schools: Florida, Tuxedo, Port Jervis, Fallsburg and Chapel Field. This rule applies to all contests that involve these schools.
3. Girls’ games will be played in 5 quarters in accordance with the following OCIAA modifications.
a. Both teams must have 12 or more players at start of game.
b. Both coaches will exchange official OCIAA roster forms before each game.
c. The players must be seeded from #1 on down. The top half in squad A, the bottom in squad B. This must be entered in the score book before the game starts.
d. Squad A will play quarters 1, 3, & 5; squad B will play quarters 2 & 4.
e. If A team drops under limit, bring up top B player.
f. If B team drops below limit, bring up lowest A player.
g. Any defense may be used except if a team has a 10 point or more lead. Teams cannot press full court and/or half court if there is a 10 point differential score between the two teams.
h. There will be two time outs per half - one time out in the fifth quarter.
i. NO PLAYER CAN PLAY MORE THAN 4 QUARTERS.
j. During the fifth quarter after 3rd team personal foul, teams will shoot 1-1 starting with the 4th team foul.
k. No half-time will be used, 5 quarters will be played with a 1 minute break between quarters.
4. 7 minute quarters will be played in all games.
5. The score will be removed from the scoreboard after each quarter.
6. IF A TEAM HAS UNDER 12 PLAYERS, ONLY 4 QUARTERS ARE TO BE PLAYED.
7. The 3 point field goal rule will not be used.
8. Unsportsmanlike Conduct:
a. When a player(s) is ejected from a game for fighting, unsportsmanlike conduct, a double technical or two technicals in a game, the following action will be taken:
(1) First ejection - that player(s) cannot attend or participate in the next scheduled game.
(2) Second ejection - that player(s) cannot attend or participate in the next two scheduled games.
(3) Third ejection - that player(s) cannot attend or participate in any remaining scheduled games.
b. The official who ejected the player(s) will notify the OCIAA Athletic Coordinator, prior to 12:00 noon the following day, of the name(s) of the player(s) and the type of infraction(s).
c. The coach of the player(s) who was ejected must notify his/her Athletic Director. The Athletic Director will then contact the OCIAA Athletic Coordinator’s Office to confirm that the player or players will not be allowed to participate in that school’s next scheduled game or games as
required above.
d. A player(s) who is ejected from a game cannot be present at the site of the next game whether it is
home or away.
9. Each modified team may not schedule more than 14 total games. Scrimmages refer to page 92 # 8 in the N.Y.S.P.H.S.A.A. Handbook.
