1. The current year National Federation Basketball Rules and the NYSPHSAA Handbook will apply.
2. The following OCIAA rules and policies will apply.
a. The McGregor wide seam X10L, The Rock # MG4000SKNF, Rawlings wide seam #RSS-NCAA and Spaulding Top Flite 100 and 1000 are the approved OCIAA basketballs.
b. The home school must use anti whip nets.
c. The home school will provide a minimum of 6 warm up balls for the visiting team.
d. Home school will provide a dressing room for the visiting team.
e. Home school will provide a separate dressing room for the game officials.
f. All schools must have a 35 second clock and an alternate possession clock.
g. Pep bands are permissible at home contests prior to the contest, during alternating cheerleading time-outs and at half time.
h. Home team will provide any warm-up music. Spectators are not allowed to bring radios, music boxes or noise making devices into the gym. No Signs Are Allowed.
3. All Orange County coaches will rate both JV and varsity officials and send in the cards through their Athletic Director to the Athletic Coordinator within two weeks.
4. Unsportsmanlike Conduct:
a. When a coach is ejected from a game please refer to NYSPHSAA Handbook # 27 Sportsmanship.
b. When a player(s) is ejected from a game for fighting, unsportsmanlike conduct, a double technical or two technicals in a game, the following action will be taken:
(1) First ejection - that player(s) cannot attend or participate in the next scheduled game.
(2) Second ejection - that player(s) cannot attend or participate in the next two scheduled games.
(3) Third ejection - that player(s) cannot attend or participate in any remaining scheduled games including sectionals or any higher level of competition.
c. The official who ejected the player(s) will notify the OCIAA Athletic Coordinator, prior to 12:00 noon the following day, of the name(s) of the player(s) and the type of infraction(s).
d. The coach of the player(s) who was ejected must notify his/her Athletic Director. The Athletic Director will then contact the OCIAA Athletic Coordinator’s Office to confirm that the player or players will not be allowed to participate in that school’s next scheduled game or games as required above.
e. A player(s) who is ejected from a game cannot be present at the site of the next game whether it is home or away.
f. For any violation disqualifying a player(s) that occur during the OCIAA season, penalties will carry over into sectional play. Once penalties are served, sectional unsportsmanlike conduct rules apply.
5. Championships:
a. The OCIAA Boys Basketball League will consist of divisions.
b. Each division will recognize a champion based on win/lose record within their division play.
c. If there is a tie based on division records, the following will be used to determine that division champion:
(1) Head-to-head between teams that are tied.
(2) If teams are still tied co-champions will be declared.
6. Awards (Varsity Only):
Plaques: 5 Division Champions (Team)
OCIAA Patches: Each individual school may purchase their own patches should they choose to do so.
