Minutes from October 2010 Meeting.
The Life of an Athlete winter session was held in Lake Placid NY, on February 18-20, 2011. The program assists communities by impacting school athletic programs with regard to chemical health issues. Social drug use has reached epidemic levels in our youth and student athletes are among the highest at risk groups. The American Athletic Institute has spent more than a decade studying the social dynamics of alcohol and marijuana use by middle school and high school athletes. They have conducted studies linking use and diminished athletic performance. This information has been developed into a highly regarded prevention/intervention program that has been shown for the past seven years, at the Department of Justice’s OJJDP National Leadership Conference.
